With reference to the internship package of CPE Lyon, I hereby apply for
an internship position in your organization for a duration between six to
twelve months.
As a CPE Lyon student concentrating in chemistry and engineering
process, I believe that an internship is an excellent way to get acquainted
with new lab techniques and discover what chemical industry is. During my
educational pathway, I have always been interested in research and development,
more precisely, in formulation of Home Care or Beauty/Body Care products. Getting
this work experience in your company will be a great opportunity to introduce
myself to chemical formulation.
This interest came up during my two years of ‘Classes préparatoires’
in preparation for competitive entry
exams to Grandes Ecoles where students had to make a
research project. I have chose to work on the sugar-based surfactants. My work was
divided into two parts. Firstly, I managed to synthesize surfactants from
glucose and, then, I studied their biodegradability compared to a commercial
surfactant. This project was very enrischising since I realize that research
was a good way of work for me. By the way, it was also an introduction to green
chemistry which is a topical issue in chemical industry.
More recently, I have
done a one-month internship at Véolia, the worldwide leader in
dedicated environmental services, where my mission was to experiment jar tests
and determinate some chemical compounds by micomethods on samples from a water
epurative plant. Through this internship, I have realized how a big company
works and how communication is important to have an efficient workteam. I have
also improved my technical skills by handling new analytical equipments.
Additionally, recent chemistry courses taken at my engineering school
which cover as much engineering process as analytical sciences and organic
chemistry, makes me an ideal candidate for this position. Indeed, I am not only
eager to learn more but also would like to apply what I learned in these fields.
